Located in Gilbert, AZ, The Center for Community Resilience Education and Training is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people on becoming better prepared in handling disasters and emergencies. Our goal is to help create resilient communities by educating the public on being prepared and better managing of their resources, and to teach them how to take care of themselves, and others, during times of uncertainty and distress.

We believe by making people more self-reliant, by ensuring people are prepared for natural and technological disasters, we can strengthen our communities, making them safer places to live.

We achieve our goals by working with community leaders and educating and training the public on becoming better prepared to face these challenges.

 FRED HENSS, Director of Education

fredHenssA professional trainer for over twenty years, Fred Henss brings his skills as an educator and trainer. Fred’s skill set begins with his time as a Submarine Force Hospital Corpsman. In charge of Training Development as the Field Training Officer for a leading security services company in the Phoenix valley. Having certifications in various fields, including security, crime, terrorism, first aid, CPR, mine safety, OSHA, crisis prevention, his training have influence tens of thousands people. Licensing Compliance Officer for the AZ Department of Public Safety and as a Fire, Life, Safety Compliance Specialist. Fred is a certified instructor for Arizona Game and Fish Department, as well as an instructor for the Arizona Supreme Court. He is a member of Infragard and ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security). He brings 16 years of personal preparedness experience to the CCRET training roster.

ROB HANUS, Director of Operations

robHanusBeginning his skill set in the US Marines, Rob’s experience includes a B.S. in Security and Emergency Management and an AAS in law enforcement. The eight years of emergency service and 25 years as an Amateur Radio operator has given him the experience of working from the community perspective. In addition to producing The Preparedness Podcast, a free podcast on disaster preparedness, and author of three emergency preparedness books, he brings three decades of personal preparedness experience to the training roster. From the corporate world, Rob brings his experience in management, logistics, and operations to the organization.
